Possible Causes

Seat weight sensor calibration error can be caused by weight acting on passenger seat during calibration, improperly installed passenger front seat part at time of calibration, deformed floor where attached to passenger front seat, deformed seat under-bracket or frame, seat weight sensor deformed or malfunction, seat weight senor control module malfunction or SAS control module malfunction.

  1. Inspect seat weight sensor

    Ensure passenger front seat is properly installed. Perform seat weight sensor calibration. See SEAT WEIGHT SENSOR CONTROL MODULE INSPECTION & CALIBRATION  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If seat weight sensor calibrates normally, replace SAS control module. See SAS CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If seat weight sensor does not calibrate normally, go to next step.

  2. Inspect passenger front seat

    Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Remove passenger front seat. Inspect front seat for deformation of seat under-bracket, deformation of seat frame, deformation of seat weight sensor or foreign objects in seat. If any problems are found, repair as necessary. Perform seat weight sensor calibration. Check for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)  . If DTC B1013 is displayed, go to next step. If no problems are found, go to next step.

  3. Inspect floor

    Inspect passenger front seat floor area for deformation or damage. If floor area is okay, go to next step. If floor area is not okay, repair floor area as necessary. Perform seat weight sensor calibration. Check for DTCs. If DTC B1013 is displayed, go to next step.

  4. Inspect seat weight sensor control module

    Replace seat weight sensor. See SEAT WEIGHT SENSOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform seat weight sensor calibration. Check for DTCs. If DTC B1013 is displayed, replace seat weight sensor control module. See SEAT WEIGHT SENSOR CONTROL MODULE INSPECTION & CALIBRATION  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform seat weight sensor calibration. Check for DTCs. If DTC B1013 is displayed, replace SAS control module. If DTC B1013 is not displayed, test is complete.
