Electric Power Steering (Eps) Neutral Position Setting
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2004 Mazda RX-8. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Place front wheels in straight-ahead position. Ensure steering wheel is within 45 degrees to right or left of center position. Jack up front of vehicle, so that there is no weight on front wheels. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
- Set EPS to neutral by selecting TRQ-S-CAL active command mode function. After setting EPS to neutral, start engine, rotate steering wheel slowly in both directions within a range of 90 degrees. Verify steering force does not differ in either direction. If steering force is different in either direction, diagnose EPS malfunction. Refer to appropriate repair manual.
