Possible Causes

Poor connection between left seat belt buckle switch and SAS control module, open or short circuit in wiring harness between left seat belt buckle switch and SAS control module, left seat belt buckle switch malfunction or SAS control module malfunction.

1. Inspect left seat belt buckle switch circuit
   
   Using scan tool, inspect PID/DATA monitor DR-BUKL. See PID/DATA MONITOR & RECORD  under DIAGNOSTICS. If PID readings are normal and performing present malfunction diagnosis, replace SAS control module. See SAS CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If PID readings are normal and performing past malfunction diagnosis, test is complete. If readings are not normal, go to next step.
2. Inspect left seat belt buckle switch
   
   Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Disconnect left seat belt buckle switch connector. Measure continuity across seat belt switch connector terminals with seat belt bucked and unbuckled. If there is no continuity with seat belt buckled and continuity with seat belt unbuckled, go to next step. If there is continuity with seat belt buckled or no continuity with seat belt unbuckled, replace seat belt buckle switch. See SEAT BELT BUCKLE SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
3. Inspect wiring harness between left seat belt buckle switch & ground
   
   Measure between ground and left seat belt buckle switch connector terminal "B" for short to power or short to ground. See Figure . If short to power or short to ground is detected, replace wiring harness. If wiring harness is okay, go to next step.
4. Inspect wiring harness between left seat belt buckle switch & SAS control module
   
   Remove steering column cover and disconnect clockspring connector. Remove glove compartment and disconnect passenger-side air bag module connectors. On models equipped with side air bags, disconnect right and left side air bag module connectors. On models equipped with side curtain air bags, disconnect right and left side curtain air bag module connectors. On models equipped with seat belt pretensioners, remove right and left lower B-pillar trims and disconnect seat belt pretensioner connectors. On all models, disconnect all SAS control module connectors. Measure for short to ground, short to power or open circuit between SAS control module connector No. 2, terminal No. 2T and left seat belt buckle switch connector terminal "A". See Figure & Figure . If short to ground, short to power or open circuit is detected, replace wiring harness. If wiring harness is okay and performing present malfunction diagnosis, replace SAS control module. If wiring harness is okay and performing past malfunction diagnosis, test is complete.
