Oil Pan Assembly Note

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 7 other vehicles, including the 2006 Mazda MPV, 2005 Mazda MPV, 2004 Mazda MPV, 2004 Mazda 6, and 2003 Mazda MPV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Apply silicone sealant to the mating faces as indicated in the figure.

Dot Diameter
1. 10 mm {0.39 in}
Install the oil pan with a new gasket.
Install the bolts and studs as indicated in the figure.

Align the cylinder block and the rear face of the oil pan using the straight edge.

Tighten the bolts and studs in the order indicated in the figure.

Measure the height between the cylinder block and the oil pan.
- If the clearance is 0-0.25 mm {0-0.009 in} , oil pan assembly is completed.
- If the clearance is -0.26-0.50 mm {-0.010-0.019 in} , install the 0.25 mm {0.0098 in} shim (silver) to the oil pan.
- If the clearance is -0.51-0.75 mm {-0.020-0.030 in} , install the 0.50 mm {0.0020 in} shim (gold) to the oil pan.
- If the clearance is more than -0.75 mm{-0.030 in} , or the oil pan is higher than the cylinder block, reinstall the oil pan.
