Mass Airflow (MAF) Sensor

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2001 Mazda Protege, 2001 Mazda Millenia, 2001 Mazda MX-5 Miata, 2001 Mazda MPV, and 2001 Mazda 626. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Visually check MAF sensor for cracks or damage. If any damage is present, replace MAF sensor. If no damage is present, turn off all electrical loads. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) scan tool to DLC-2. Turn ignition on.
  2. Using scan tool, select PID/DATA MONITOR AND RECORD function. Select MAF V PID and record value while operating vehicle under specified conditions. See MASS AIRFLOW (MAF) SENSOR VOLTAGE  table. If voltage is not as specified, check continuity of each circuit between MAF sensor and PCM. See WIRING DIAGRAMS article. Repair as necessary. If continuity is present in all circuits, replace MAF sensor.
