Charge Air Cooler By-Pass (System Check)

  1. Connect scan tool to DLC-2. Start engine and verify charge air cooler by-pass actuator rod is retracted. See Figure .
  2. Select SIMULATION TEST function. Select CACBYP. Using SIMULATION TEST function, turn off CACBYP and ensure actuator rod returns. If actuator rod operation is not as specified, turn ignition off. Go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition on. Using SIMULATION TEST function, ensure operation sound of Charge Air Cooler By-Pass (CACBYP) solenoid valve. If operation sound of CACBYP solenoid valve is not heard, replace CACBYP solenoid valve. If operation sound of CACBYP solenoid valve is heard, check following:
    • Vacuum hose damaged or loose.
    • Vacuum pump.
    • Damaged actuator diaphragm.
    • Sticking shutter valve.

    Repair as necessary.
