Removal & Installation (Miata)

  1. Release fuel system pressure. See FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE . Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air hose and upper intake manifold. See UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD . Disconnect fuel hoses from fuel rail. See FUEL LINE CONNECTORS (MIATA, MILLENIA, MPV, PROTEGE, PROTEGE5 & 626) . Disconnect fuel injector harness connectors. Remove fuel rail and injectors as an assembly. Remove insulators, injectors, pulsation damper No. 2 and "O" rings from fuel rail.
  2. Install New injector insulators. Ensure insulators are pressed in fully and not twisted or bent. Apply coating of engine oil to NEW "O" rings, and install on fuel injectors and pulsation damper No. 2. Tighten fuel rail mounting bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Install NEW extension manifold gasket. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure.
