Oil Pan: Installation
CAUTION:
Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of the head gasket.
- Clean all sealing surfaces on the engine and the oil pan with Metal Surface Cleaner.
- Position a new gasket on the oil pan.
- Apply a 10 mm (0.40 in) diameter dot of silicone gasket and sealer to the areas indicated.
- Position the oil pan and hand-tighten the oil pan bolts.
- Tighten the oil pan bolts in the sequence shown.
- Tighten the three bolts.
- Install the exhaust flexible exhaust pipe. Refer to EXHAUST FLEXIBLE PIPE .
- Connect the downstream catalyst monitor.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Fill the crankcase with SAE 5W-20 motor oil.
NOTE:
The oil pan must be installed and the bolts tightened with in six minutes of sealant application.
