Cylinder Head - RH: Removal

  1. Remove the lower intake manifold. Refer to LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD .
  2. Remove the coolant bypass tube. Refer to BYPASS TUBE .
  3. Remove the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) tube. Refer to EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) VALVE TUBE .
  4. Remove the RH camshafts. Refer to CAMSHAFTS - RH .
  5. CAUTION: The camshaft followers must be installed in their original positions.

  6. Remove the camshaft followers.
  7. CAUTION: The hydraulic lash adjusters must be installed in their original position.

  8. Remove the hydraulic lash adjusters.
  9. Raise the vehicle.
  10. Remove the six nuts from the RH exhaust manifold.

  11. Lower the vehicle.
  12. NOTE: The cylinder head bolts must be replaced with new bolts. They are torque-to-yield designed and cannot be reused.

  13. Remove the bolts in the sequence shown and remove the cylinder head.
    • Discard the gasket and the bolts.
