Cylinder Head - RH: Installation
CAUTION:
Do not use metal scrapers, wire brushes, power abrasive discs or other abrasive means to clean the sealing surfaces. These tools cause scratches and gouges which make leak paths. Use a plastic scraping tool to remove all traces of the head gasket. Clean all sealing surfaces with Metal Surface Cleaner.
NOTE:
The cylinder head bolts must be replaced with new bolts. They are torque-to-yield designed and cannot be reused.
- Position the RH cylinder head, gasket and install the bolts in the sequence shown.
- Tighten the bolts in six stages.
- Stage 1: Tighten to 40 N.m (4.1 kgf.m, 30 ft.lbf).
- Stage 2: Tighten bolts 90 degrees.
- Stage 3: Loosen one full turn.
- Stage 4: Tighten to 40 N.m (4.1 kgf.m , 30 ft.lbf).
- Stage 5: Tighten 90 degrees.
- Stage 6: Tighten 90 degrees.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Install RH exhaust manifold nuts in the sequence shown.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Install the hydraulic lash adjusters.
- Lubricate the hydraulic lash adjusters with SAE 5W-20 motor oil.
- Install the camshaft followers.
- Lubricate the camshaft followers with SAE 5W-20 motor oil.
- Install the RH camshafts. Refer to CAMSHAFTS - RH .
- Install the coolant bypass tube. Refer to BYPASS TUBE .
- Install the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) tube. Refer to EXHAUST MANIFOLD TO EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) VALVE TUBE .
- Install the lower intake manifold. Refer to LOWER INTAKE MANIFOLD .
