Rear HALFSHAFT: Reassembly
- Lubricate the inner and outer CV joint with joint grease. See Figure
.
- Install the outer halfshaft boot. See Figure
.
- Install the snap ring on the halfshaft. See Figure
.
- Install a new halfshaft shaft bearing retainer circlip. See Figure
.
- Use a soft-face hammer to install the inner CV joint by gently tapping it onto the halfshaft. See Figure
.
- Remove any excess grease on the mating surfaces and slide the outer halfshaft joint boot forward onto the outer CV joint. See Figure
.
- Remove any excess air trapped in the outer halfshaft boot using a cloth covered screwdriver after adjusting the outer halfshaft boot spacing. See Figure
.
- Using the special tool, crimp two new outer halfshaft boot clamps. See Figure
.
- Position the inner halfshaft boot. See Figure
.
- Install the snap ring. See Figure
.
- Install the bearing retainer circlip. See Figure
.
- Using a soft face hammer, install the halfshaft on the inner joint. See Figure
.
- Position the inner halfshaft boot. See Fig 1
.
- Remove any excess air trapped in the halfshaft boot using a cloth covered screwdriver after adjusting the halfshaft boot spacing. See Figure
.
- Using the special tool, install two new inner joint boot clamps. See Figure
.
- Install the halfshaft. See HALFSHAFT (REAR)
under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
