Removal (4WD With Automatic Locking Hubs)

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove front wheel assemblies and caliper. See FRONT DISC BRAKE PADS  . Remove retainer washers from lug nut studs. Remove automatic locking hub assembly from spindle.
  2. NOTE: DO NOT attempt to remove hub lock assembly by prying at hub lock legs. This can result in cracked or broken hub locks, which can cause vacuum leaks.

  3. Install Hublock Removal Clips and Hub Puller (205-404 & 205-405), and align puller with 3 slots in hub lock. See Fig 1 . Finger tighten set screw. Using an impact slide hammer, remove hub lock. Remove and discard wheel hub "O" ring.
