Test M: Check Fuel Cap Indicator Inoperative

  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect PCM connector B-111 and install breakout box to harness connector. Leave PCM disconnected. Turn ignition on with engine off. Connect 10-amp fused jumper wire between breakout box terminal NO. 82 and ground. If CHECK FUEL CAP indicator illuminates, check for PCM related evaporative emissions system trouble codes. See appropriate SELF-DIAGNOSTICS article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE. If indicator does not illuminate, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C-215. Measure resistance between instrument cluster connector terminal No 10 (Black/White wire) and breakout box terminal No. 82. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair Black/White wire and retest system.
