Test K: Anti-Lock Brake Warning Light Inoperative

NOTE: For additional anti-lock brake warning light testing, see appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES.
  1. Cycle ignition switch off and on. If ANTI-LOCK brake warning indicator proves out, system is okay. If light does not prove out, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect ABS module connector O-154. Turn ignition on with engine not running. Connect a 10-amp fused jumper wire between ABS module connector terminal No. 16 and ground. See Figure. If ANTI-LOCK indicator illuminates, diagnose ABS system. See appropriate ANTI-LOCK article in BRAKES. If light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect instrument cluster connector C-216. Measure resistance between terminal No. 6 (Dark Green wire) of instrument cluster connector C-216 and terminal No. 16 of ABS module connector O-154. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace instrument cluster printed circuit. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair Dark Green wire and retest system.
