Diagnostic Aids

Enter this procedure only when DTCs have not been successfully retrieved or if directed here from another test or chart. This symptom test is only intended to diagnose; mechanical malfunction in ABS.

  1. Check for ABS related DTCs. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If no ABS related DTCs are present, go to next step. If ABS related DTCs are present, perform appropriate diagnostic test in DIAGNOSTIC TESTS  .
  2. Perform ABS HYDRAULIC UNIT  under COMPONENT TESTS. If system is okay, see DISC & DRUM - EXCEPT B2500, B3000, B4000 & MIATA for 2000 models and refer to DISC & DRUM for 2001 models, to diagnose base brake system fault. If system fails inspection and wheels do not rotate, replace ABS CM. If system fails inspection and wheels rotate, but in incorrect order, check brake fluid lines to ABS CM for restrictions or misrouting.
