DTC 01: Buckle Switch On/Off Signal

  1. Unfasten driver's side seat belt. If LCD indication is ON, go to next step. If LCD indication is OFF, remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using a DVOM, measure voltage between instrument cluster connector No. 1 terminal 1P and ground. See Figure . Voltage should be zero volts. If voltage is present, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If battery voltage is not present, check buckle switch, and wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair or replace as necessary. Retest system.
  2. Fasten driver's side seat belt. If LCD indication is ON, measure voltage between instrument cluster connector No. 1 terminal 1P and ground. See Figure . Battery voltage should be present. If battery voltage is present, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If battery voltage is not present, check buckle switch, and wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Repair or replace as necessary. Retest system. If LCD indication is OFF, input signal to instrument cluster is okay.
