Test J: Charge Indicator Always/Never On
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Inspect fuse No. 15 (7.5-amp) in instrument panel fuse box. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, repair short to ground and replace fuse. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
- Disconnect generator 3-pin harness connector. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect jumper wire between ground and Light Green/Red wire at generator harness connector. If charge indicator illuminates, repair charging system. See appropriate GENERATORS & REGULATORS article in STARTING & CHARGING SYSTEMS. If charge indicator does not illuminate, go to next step.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster 10-pin harness connector C-216. Measure voltage at terminal No. 2 (Yellow wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C-216. See Figure. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, replace printed circuit. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Yellow wire.
