Test E: Speedometer/Odometer Inoperative (With 4-Wheel Anti-Lock Brakes)

  1. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect instrument cluster 10-pin harness connector C-216. Measure voltage at terminal No. 7 (White/Yellow wire) at instrument cluster harness connector C-216. See Figure. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is 10 volts or less, repair open in White/Yellow wire between instrument cluster and fuse No. 25 and retest system.
  2. Check printed circuit by making measurements at speedometer gauge pins, inside instrument cluster printed circuit clips. See SPEEDOMETER PRINTED CIRCUIT MEASUREMENTS  table. If all resistance readings are less than one ohm, go to next step. If any resistance reading is greater than one ohm, replace instrument cluster printed circuit.

  3. Disconnect 4-Wheel Anti-Lock Brakes (4WABS) module 25-pin harness connector. Measure resistance of Gray/Black wire between terminal No. 1 at instrument cluster harness connector C-215 and terminal No. 10 at 4WABS module harness connector. See Figure and Fig 1 . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace speedometer. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Gray/Black wire between instrument cluster and 4WABS module and retest system.
