DTC 23 - Temperature Input Signal

  1. Check LCD indication. If LCD indication is 000 or 255, check temperature sending unit and wiring between instrument cluster and temperature sending unit. If LCD indication is 001-254, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect temperature sending unit connector. Connect Mazda Fuel and Thermometer Checker Red lead to temperature sending unit connector terminal and Black lead to ground. See Figure . Set checker to 23 ohms. If LCD indication is 086-092, go to next step. If LCD indication is not 086-092, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Set checker to 120 ohms. If LCD indication is 185-191, go to next step. If LCD indication is not 185-191, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  4. Set checker to 230 ohms. If LCD indication is 213-218, instrument cluster is okay. If LCD indication is not 213-218, replace instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
