Door Ajar Warning Light Does Not Illuminate With Any Door Open

  1. Turn interior light switch to DOOR position. Open any door. If interior light illuminates, go to step 7). If interior light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  2. Check ROOM fuse (15-amp). If ROOM fuse is okay, go to next step. If ROOM fuse is blown, repair wiring and replace fuse.
  3. Remove driver's front scuff plate. Remove driver's kick panel. Remove CPU from joint box. Measure voltage between ground and joint box terminal 1J. See Figure . If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair wiring between ROOM fuse (15-amp) and CPU.
  4. Check for continuity between ground and joint box terminal 1G. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair wiring between CPU and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS.
  5. Open any door. Check for continuity between ground and joint box terminal 1I. If continuity exists, replace CPU. If continuity does not exist, go to next step.
  6. Remove door switch. Inspect door switch. See POWER DOOR LOCKS/KEYLESS ENTRY article. If door switch is okay, repair wiring between CPU and door switch. See WIRING DIAGRAMS. If door switch is bad, replace door switch.
  7. Remove instrument cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove door ajar warning light bulb. Inspect bulb. If bulb is okay, go to next step. If bulb is bad, replace bulb.
  8. Remove driver's front scuff plate. Remove driver's kick panel. Remove CPU from joint box. Check for continuity between instrument cluster harness connector No. 1 terminal 1E and joint box terminal 1H. See Figure and Figure . If continuity exists, replace Instrument Cluster. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If continuity does not exist, repair wiring between CPU and instrument cluster. See WIRING DIAGRAMS.
