Removal (MPV 4WD)

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel assembly. Remove axle lock nut. Remove tie rod end cotter pin and nut. Separate tie rod end ball stud from knuckle using puller. Remove brake caliper and wire aside.
  2. Remove lower control arm-to-ball joint bolts and separate ball joint from lower control arm. Remove lower control arm ball joint cotter pin and nut. Separate lower control arm ball joint stud from knuckle using puller. Remove bolts retaining steering knuckle to strut assembly. Remove rotor. Separate hub and knuckle from drive shaft.
  3. Remove wheel hub from knuckle using Puller Set (49-G033-1A1) and Plate (49-F026-103). Place alignment marks on dust cover. Separate and remove dust cover. Remove snap ring and oil seals. Remove bearing from knuckle using Puller Set (49-G033-1A1) and Plate (49-F026-103). If bearing inner race remains on hub, move race away from hub using chisel. Remove race from hub using Puller Set (49-G033-1A1) and Puller (49-0636-145).
