Hydraulic Lash Adjusters

  1. Remove camshaft cover. Check movement of Hydraulic Lash Adjuster (HLA) by pushing downward on each rocker using only hand pressure. If rocker moves down, replace HLA inside rocker.
  2. To remove HLA, pull unit out of rocker arm by hand. See Fig 1. If difficult to remove, use pliers and then replace damaged HLA. If HLA is removed, HLA "O" ring will be damaged and require replacement.
  3. Replace "O" ring. Coat HLA and rocker arm socket with engine oil. Push HLA into rocker arm with twisting motion, and ensure "O" ring is NOT damaged. If "O" ring is damaged, HLA will not function.
