Removal (Rear S-Sensor)

  1. Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS  . Disable the air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  . Rear S-sensor located behind heater unit in passenger compartment. See Figure . Remove driver and passenger air bag modules. See DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE  and PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE  .
  2. To facilitate removal of rear S-sensor, it is necessary to remove heater unit. Before removing heater unit it is necessary to drain engine coolant and remove dashboard assembly.
  3. After removing dashboard assembly and heater unit, to access S-sensor, unbolt sensor from vehicle. Disconnect electrical connectors. Remove sensor from vehicle.
