ABS Warning Light Illuminates For 1.5 Seconds & Goes Out Before Engine Starts
- Check for disconnected alternator wiring connector. If connector is okay, start engine and let idle. Using voltmeter, check voltage at alternator terminal "L". See Fig 1
. Voltmeter should read battery voltage. If voltmeter reads battery voltage, go to next step. If voltmeter does not read battery voltage, repair alternator.NOTE: If battery voltage is low, ABS warning light may illuminate.
- Start engine. Check voltage at battery and ABS control unit connector terminal 1H (Red/White wire). If battery voltage is less than 10 volts, charge or replace battery.
- If battery voltage is greater than 10 volts and voltage at ABS control unit connector terminal 1H (Red/White wire) is less than 10 volts, check wiring harness between battery and ABS control unit connector terminal 1H (Red/White wire). Repair as necessary. If wiring harness is okay, go to next step.
- Ensure ABS control unit 18-pin connector and wiring harness between alternator terminal "L" and ABS control unit are okay. Repair or replace as necessary. Ground ABS control unit connector terminal 2L (Blue/Yellow wire). See Fig 1 , Figure and Figure . If ABS warning light illuminates, replace ABS control unit. If ABS warning light does not illuminate, check wiring harness between ABS control unit and ABS warning light.
