Brake Pedal Free Play

NOTE: On Navajo models with standard and vacuum booster systems, brake pedal free play is built into pedal linkage and is not adjustable. On dash-mounted booster systems, push rod is adjustable. See MASTER CYLINDER PUSH ROD (NAVAJO) under ADJUSTMENTS.

Depress pedal a few times to eliminate vacuum. Depress brake pedal by hand and check pedal free play. On 929, pedal free play should be .20-.31" (5-8 mm). On all other models, pedal free play should be .16-.28" (4-7 mm). Adjust play by loosening push rod lock nut. Turn push rod until correct free play is obtained. On B2200 and B2600i, tighten push rod lock nut to 14-21 ft. lbs. (19-28 N.m). On all other models, tighten push rod lock nut to 17-25 ft. lbs. (23-34 N.m).
