Suspension - Rear: Description

Rear suspension consists of MacPherson-type struts, crossmember, trailing arms and laterally mounted links. Some models are equipped with Automatic Adjusting Suspension (AAS). For information on this system, see appropriate ELECTRONIC SUSPENSION article in this section.

On MX-6 and 626 models, trailing arm attaches to wheel hub. On Protege and 323, trailing arm attaches to strut. Lateral links attach to crossmember and wheel hub on all models. A stabilizer bar is mounted to front lateral links and crossmember. On 4WD models, rear lateral link is adjustable. Rear wheel alignment is adjusted by turning star wheels mounted on lateral link assemblies.
