Crankshaft Front Seal: Installation
- Apply light oil coat to seal lip, and push seal over crankshaft. Tap seal into oil pump body until it is flush with edge of pump body. DO NOT bottom seal in pump body. Align keyway slots, and install crankshaft sprocket by tapping lightly with brass hammer. DO NOT deform sprocket end with hammer, or pulley misalignment may result.
- Install Woodruff key with tapered side toward oil pump body. Install crankshaft sprocket lock bolt. Using Crankshaft Lock Tools (49-S120-710 and 49-B011-102), lock crankshaft sprocket into position. See Fig 1. Tighten lock bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install timing belt. See TIMING BELT under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Install timing belt covers, pulleys and drive belts. Using timing light, reconnect negative battery cable, and ensure timing is correct.
