Removal (SOHC)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable, and drain coolant. Remove cylinder head. See CYLINDER HEAD  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Remove rocker arm shaft assembly by loosening rocker arm shaft bolts evenly in 2-3 steps, in reverse order of tightening sequence. See Figure.
  2. Match mark each component for installation reference. Rocker arms are NOT interchangeable. Remove rocker arm shaft assembly together with bolts. Remove camshaft sprocket and distributor. Remove camshaft thrust plate, and slide camshaft out of head. Remove end seal from head.
