KICKDOWN Switch: Testing

  1. Turn ignition on and measure voltage at terminal "V" and ground with accelerator pedal 7/8 to fully depressed for battery voltage. With accelerator at rest to 7/8 depressed, less than 1.5 volts should be present. See Fig 1.

  2. Disconnect kickdown switch connector and check for continuity with switch depressed. With switch released, no continuity should exist. If not correct, replace switch.
  3. Adjust kickdown switch by loosening switch lock nuts, depress accelerator pedal fully. Turn switch until threaded case touches stopper and turn switch out 1/2 turn. Tighten kickdown switch lock nuts. See Fig 1.
