Removal & Disassembly

  1. Remove rear seat and trim. Remove actuator mounting bolts (if equipped). Remove actuator. Remove piston rod upper lock nut. Remove actuator bracket. Loosen (do not remove) piston rod lower lock nut. Remove nuts retaining strut assembly to body.
  2. Raise and support vehicle. Remove wheel assembly. Disconnect brake hose from strut (if necessary). Punch a alignment mark on strut housing and knuckle for reassembly reference.
  3. Disconnect bolts retaining lower end of strut to knuckle assembly. Disconnect bolts mounting strut to body. Remove strut assembly. Clamp strut securely in soft-jawed vise. Compress coil spring. Remove lower lock nut and washer. Remove remaining components.
