Suspension - Electronic: Operation: Actuator
A magnet is located in the center of the actuator surrounded by 6 coils. A shaft integrated with the magnet is attached to the control rod. As current flows through the coils, the stator becomes magnetized to attract the magnet and turn the control rod. Each turn of 60 degrees aligns one of the 3 sets of orifices in the piston rod with the rotary valve. Suspension damping characteristics are determined by the resistance of hydraulic oil flow through the orifices that the actuator selects. See Fig 1 .
