Cooling Fan & And/Or Condenser Fan Motors Inoperative: 626
- With ignition on (engine off) and A/C switch on, place fan control speed at No. "1". Compressor clutch should engage. If not, see COMPRESSOR CLUTCH INOPERATIVE . The cooling fan and condenser fan should both operate with A/C and fan switches on.
- If cooling fan does not operate, go to next step. If condenser fan does not operate, go to step 6). If both fans do not operate go to next step.
- Check Yellow wire at cooling fan motor connector for battery voltage. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If not, check Yellow wire between 20 amp fuse and cooling fan motor connector for an open or short.
- Ground Yellow/Green wire at cooling fan motor connector. If cooling fan operates, go to next step. If not, repair or replace cooling fan motor. Separately ground the following wire at radiator fan connector: ground Yellow/Green wire. If fan motor operates, also ground black wire. If fan motor does not operate, check Yellow/Green wire between cooling fan motor connector and radiator fan relay connector for an open or short.
- Next ground Black wire. If cooling fan operates, check Black wire for a faulty ground. If cooling fan does not operate, replace radiator cooling fan relay.
- Check the following wires at the condenser fan relay for battery voltage. Check the Yellow wire for battery voltage, If not present, check Yellow wire between 20 amp fuse and condenser fan relay connector. Check Brown wire for battery voltage. If not present, check Brown wire between super heat control unit and condenser fan relay. If both wires have battery voltage, go to next step.
- To check condenser fan relay, with ignition off, remove relay from connector. Check for continuity between terminals No. 3 and No. 4. See Fig 1 . If continuity is present, replace relay and go to next step. If not present, go to next step.
- Apply battery voltage to terminals No. 1 and No. 2. Check for continuity between terminals No. 3 and No. 4. If no continuity is present, replace relay. If continuity is present, reconnect condenser fan relay, turn ignition on and go to next step.
- Ground Yellow/Green wire at condenser fan relay connector. If fan motor operates, check Yellow/Green wire between radiator fan relay and condenser fan relay for an open or short. If cooling fan does not operate, go to next step.
- Check Blue/White wire at condenser fan motor connector for battery voltage. If not present, check Blue/White wire between condenser fan relay and condenser fan motor connector. If battery voltage is present, go to next step.
- Ground Black wire at condenser fan motor connector. If fan operates, check Black wire for a faulty ground. If fan does not operate, repair or replace condenser fan motor.
