Lock-Up & Overdrive Control (200SX)

Operation of torque converter lock-up and overdrive is handled by Lock-Up Control Unit (LCU), that senses vehicle speed. LCU will activate or deactivate lock-up under predetermined conditions. Overdrive control switch activates overdrive cancel solenoid when turned off and transmission can not shift into overdrive.
If malfunction in lock-up or overdrive, perform LCU test first. See Fig 1 . If LCU tests properly, perform test steps in the flow chart in Fig 3 and Fig 4 .
Leave wiring harness connected to LCU during testing. Using voltmeter, check voltage between terminal No. 5 (Ground) and each terminal as listed in test chart. See Fig 2 .
On coupe models, LCU is located on right-hand side inner panel by rear seat. On hatchback models, LCU is located in left-hand luggage compartment, by hatchback lift cylinder.
