Drum Support: Inspection

  1. On all models, inspect overdrive cancel valve and spring and all internal surfaces for faults and visible wear.
  2. On JM600 models, spring should have free length of .906" (23 mm) and outer coil diameter of .1949" (4.95 mm). Installed length should be .630" (16 mm).
  3. On all models except RX7, measure clearance between seal ring and ring groove. Clearance should be .0020-.0079" (.05-.20 mm). Replace if clearance exceeds .0079" (.20 mm).
  4. On RX7 models, seal ring clearance should be .016-.063" (.04-.16 mm). Replace if clearance exceeds .0157" (.40 mm).
    NOTE: It is recommended to replace seal rings at overhaul.
