Temperature Gauge

  1. If temperature gauge needle does not move at all, check for blown fuse or loose wire harness connector. If fuel gauge is inoperative also, inspect voltage regulator for malfunction.
  2. Disconnect sending unit connector wire. Connect Checker (49 0839 285) Red lead to connector wire and checker Black lead to body ground. Set checker resistances to correct values.
  3. Use RESISTANCES FOR TEMPERATURE GAUGE TESTING  chart to compare gauge reading. Turn ignition switch to "ON" position and ensure that needle registers correctly on the gauge, according to resistance measurement set. SeeFig 1 .
  4. Allow 2 minutes to ensure correct test results. Allowable limit of needle deflection is twice the width of the needle. If gauge or gauge readings are not as shown in tables, replace sending unit.
