Line Pressure Tests
- Make sure engine fluids and ATF are at correct levels. Connect oil pressure gauges to line pressure and 2nd servo release test ports. See Fig 1. Connect vacuum gauge so intake manifold vacuum can be monitored. Warm up engine until coolant and ATF are at operating temperatures.
- Block front and rear wheels. Set parking brake firmly. Place selector lever in range to be checked. Note pressure reading on gauge at idle. Apply brake pedal fully and check pressure reading at full throttle (stall point).
- Use readings at 2nd servo release port for testing in "R" range. All pressures should be in range shown in appropriate LINE PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS table. See HYDRAULIC PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS . Pressure readings should increase steadily as car speed increases under light load. Maximum pressure drop between shift points is 14 PSI (.98 kg/cm2
). Excessive pressure drop could be caused by internal leak at servo or clutch seal.
