Transmission Overheats

Check oil level. Faulty rear lubrication or oil pressure. Incorrect engine stall speed. Make oil drain check. Defective manual control valve. Faulty band servo, front clutch, band brake, low-reverse brake, oil pump. Possible hydraulic passage leaks. Defective one-way clutch in torque converter or planetary gear. In addition, on lock-up models, check "O" ring on input shaft and lock-up orifice in oil pump cover. Faulty torque converter.
