Line Pressure Tests

  1. Make sure transmission fluid is at correct level and operating temperature. Connect pressure gauges to line pressure test ports at front and rear of transmission. See Fig 1 .
  2. NOTE: Front port is used to check pressure in "R" range, rear port is used for forward ranges.
    CAUTION: Do not hold throttle open longer than 5 seconds at a time.
  3. Block front and rear wheels and securely set parking brake, place selector lever in range to be checked and note pressure reading on gauge at idle. Gradually increase throttle opening until wide open and check pressure reading again. Pressure should be as indicated in appropriate LINE PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS table under HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TEST SPECIFICATIONS  .
