Oil Pump Assembly: Reassembly
- Place pump housing in torque converter. Fit inner and outer gears in housing as when disassembling. On L3N71B and L4N71B models, install speed cut valve, lock-up control valve and springs into pump cover. Tap retaining pins.
- On all models, check pump cover runout. Support pump housing in tool (Datsun/Nissan No. ST25580001; Mazda No. 49 2113 025A). Temporarily assemble pump cover and housing. DO NOT tighten bolts completely at this time. Attach dial indicator and measure total pump cover runout. See Fig 1
. Total runout must not exceed .003" (.07 mm). Runout can be adjusted by tapping cover lightly with a plastic hammer.
- Tighten pump cover bolts. Recheck runout. Install seal rings on stator support and a new large seal ring on pump housing outside diameter.
