Disassembly & Reassembly
- Inspect drum support bushing and ring groove areas for wear. Remove drum support and gasket from OD case. Stake off retaining pin using a punch having a .059-.071" (1.5-1.8 mm) outer diameter and remove OD cancel valve and spring.
- Spring should have a free length of .906" (23 mm) and an outer coil diameter of .1949" (4.95 mm). Do NOT stake off from contacting face side. Inspect OD cancel valve and spring and all internal surfaces for faults and visible wear.
- Measure clearance between seal ring and ring groove. Clearance should be .0020-.0079" (.05-.20 mm). Replace if clearance exceeds .0079" (.2 mm). Install OD cancel valve and spring into drum support; and tap retaining pins. Install lubrication plug into drum support.
- Install one-way plug in OD case. Mount oil pump assembly in oil pump assembly gauge (Kent Moore No. J25719) with a .79" (20 mm ) spacer. Mount OD case, drum support and gasket in oil pump assembly. Temporarily assemble drum support.
- Make sure OD case is inserted properly into oil pump assembly. Insert a 4.33" (110 mm) bar in oil pump at shaft location and install intermediate shaft onto it. See Fig 1 . Set runout of the drum support to less than .002" (.05 mm). Tighten drum support securing bolts. Recheck runout: Replace "O" ring and gasket.
