Pinion Case Bearing

Inspect bearing for wear and check side play. If clearance exceeds 0.008" (0.2 mm), replace bearing. New bearing clearance should be 0.001 - 0.004" (0.025 - 0.10 mm) for Hitachi or 0.002 - 0.004" (0.05 - 0.10 mm) for Mitsubishi starters.
