Crankshaft End Thrust

  1. Attach a dial indicator to flywheel end of crankshaft. Pry crankshaft toward front of engine, then zero dial indicator.
  2. Pry crankshaft rearward (toward dial indicator) and record end thrust. End thrust must not exceed 0.012" (0.305 mm). If above limits, replace thrust washers.
  3. Thrust washers are available in 0.010" (0.25 mm) 0.020" (0.50 mm) and 0.030" (0.75 mm) oversizes.
