Timing Chain: Installation

  1. When replacing timing chain and gears, set crankshaft with keyway at TDC and camshaft with keyway about one o'clock position. Assemble gears into timing chain with two marks on gear wheels opposite each other.

  2. Keep gears in this position and engage crankshaft gear keyway with key on crankshaft and rotate camshaft until camshaft gear keyway and key are aligned. Push gears onto shafts as far as they will go and tighten with lock washer and nut. Replace oil thrower with face marked "F" away from engine and replace remaining components.
