Piston Pin Replacement (18G & 18GA Engines)

Piston pins are rigidly held in split little-end of connecting rod by a clamp bolt engaging central groove of pin. Before pin can be removed, it is necessary to remove clamp screw. Place piston in a vise using holding plugs on each end of pin. Unscrew pin clamp and remove. Push out piston pin.

NOTE: At time of reassembly, note the following points: Piston is marked "FRONT" on its crown and the pin clamp screw is on camshaft side; pins must be positioned to line up groove with clamp screw hole; clamp screw spring washer should have good tension, clamp screw should screw freely into threaded portion of little end.
