Connecting Rod Bearings
To remove rod bearings, bend down locking tabs (if equipped) and remove bolts or self-locking nuts. Carefully tap rod cap with a mallet to aid removal. Push rod away from journal and remove bearing inserts. Inspect bearing and journal for wear and service as required. Standard size replacement bearings are machined to give 0.0016" (0.041 mm) oil clearance.
