DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
DTC Description Fault Trigger Condition APIM C1001: 4B Vision System Camera: Over Temperature A continuous and on-demand DTC that sets when the rear parking aid camera detects an over temperature event. Possible Sources
- Aftermarket parts
- Damage to the front bumper or sensor
- Rear parking aid camera
- APIM
- H1 CHECK THE DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS) FROM THE APIM (SYNC MODULE) SELF-TEST
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the APIM self-test.
- Check the APIM Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the self-test.
Are parking aid Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) other than C1001: 4B recorded?
Yes For all other Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) REFER to the APIM DTC Chart in this information. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart No GO to H2 - H2 CHECK THE PARKING AID CAMERA FOR PROPER VENTILATION
- Clean the liftgate and rear parking aid camera with high-pressure water.
- Make sure the camera is flush-mounted in the bezel.
- Check for damage to the liftgate, debris or any aftermarket components that may restrict rear parking aid camera ventilation.
Is there any damage or aftermarket parts restricting the ventilation to the parking aid camera?
Yes REPAIR or REMOVE the aftermarket parts as needed. No GO to H3 - H3 CHECK THE PARKING AID CAMERA
- Ignition OFF.
- Install a known good parking aid camera. REFER to: Rear Parking Aid Camera .
- Ignition ON.
- Using a diagnostic scan tool, clear the Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and repeat the APIM self-test.
Is the concern still present?
Yes GO to H4 No The cause of the concern was an inoperative parking aid camera. The system is now operating correctly. - H4 CHECK FOR CORRECT APIM (SYNC MODULE) OPERATION
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect and inspect all APIM connectors.
- Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
- Reconnect the APIM connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
- Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
Yes CHECK OASIS for any applicable service articles: TSB, GSB, SSM or FSA. If a service article exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW the service article instructions. If no service articles address this concern, Refer to APIM GUIDED ROUTINE TESTING No The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
