Pinpoint Test AZ : The Fuel Door Release Chime Is Inoperative

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    See Fuel Door Release Chime. REFER to: Warning Chimes - System Operation and Component Description .

    Possible Sources 

    • Communication concern
    • PCM concern
    • GWM
    • IPC

  2. AZ1 CHECK THE SEATBELT WARNING CHIME OPERATION

    • Ignition OFF.

    • Ignition ON.

    • Unbuckle the driver seatbelt.

    • Monitor the seatbelt warning chime when the ignition is transitioned from OFF to RUN for 6 seconds.

    Does the seatbelt warning chime operate for approximately 6 seconds? 

    Yes  GO to  AZ2
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test AC 

  3. AZ2 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the IPC DTC Chart. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart 
    No  GO to  AZ3

  4. AZ3 PERFORM THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the PCM self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the appropriate Electronic Engine Controls article.
    No  GO to  AZ4

  5. AZ4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Communications Network .
    No  DIAGNOSE a fuel system concern. REFER to the appropriate Fuel System article.
