Pinpoint Test BA : The Lane Centering Assist System Display Is Inoperative

  1. Normal Operation and Fault Conditions 

    See Lane Centering Assist. REFER to: Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) - System Operation and Component Description .

    If the traffic jam assist status or traffic jam assist warning request message is missing for less than 5 seconds, the IPC defaults the lane centering assist display to the last indication state (on or off), based upon the last message received.

    If the traffic jam assist status or traffic jam assist warning request message is missing for 5 seconds or longer, the IPC defaults the lane centering assist display indicator off.

    Possible Sources 

    • Lane centering assist concern
    • Communication concern
    • IPMA concern
    • GWM
    • IPC

  2. BA1 CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION

    • Ignition ON.

    • Close all doors, liftgate and hood.

    • Clear all message center warnings by pressing the OK button for each warning present.

    • Monitor the door ajar RTT warning indicator.

    • Open the driver door.

    • Clear the message center popup warning.

    • Monitor the door ajar RTT warning indicator.

    Is the door ajar RTT warning indicator off with the door closed, and on with the door open? 

    Yes  GO to  BA2
    No  GO to Pinpoint Test A 
  3. BA2 CHECK THE LANE CENTERING ASSIST SWITCH OPERATION

    NOTE: The adaptive cruise control system must be turned on before the lane centering assist can be activated.

    • Press the lane centering assist switch to turn the system on then off again.

    Does the lane centering assist RTT indicator turn on then off again? 

    Yes  The system is operating correctly at this time. The system was not turned on or the adaptive cruise control system was not activated.
    No  GO to  BA3
  4. BA3 PERFORM THE IPC (INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER) SELF-TEST

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, perform the IPC self-test.

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to the IPC DTC Chart. Refer to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Chart 
    No  GO to  BA4
  5. BA4 CHECK THE GWM (GATEWAY MODULE A) DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES (DTCS)

    • Using a diagnostic scan tool, check the GWM Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs).

    Are any Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) recorded? 

    Yes  REFER to: Communications Network .
    No  DIAGNOSE the adaptive cruise control system. REFER to: Cruise Control - Vehicles With: Adaptive Cruise Control With Lane Centering .
