Catalytic Converter RH: Removal

NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation steps.
All vehicles
- Disconnect the catalyst monitor electrical connector.
- Remove the HO2S. Refer to: Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 2.7L EcoBoost .
- With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
- Remove the muffler and tailpipe. Refer to: Muffler and Tailpipe 2.7L EcoBoost .
- Remove the LH and RH exhaust flexible pipes. Refer to: Exhaust Flexible Pipe 2.7L EcoBoost

FWD
- Remove and discard the catalytic converter to turbo flange nuts.
- Remove the catalytic converter mount bracket bolts.
AWD
- Remove the rear driveshaft. Refer to: Rear Driveshaft - 2.7L EcoBoost (238kW/324PS) .
- Remove the front stabilizer bar bushings. Refer to: Front Stabilizer Bar Bushing .
- Remove the LH front wheel and tire. Refer to: Wheel and Tire .
- Remove and discard the catalytic converter to turbo flange nuts.
- Remove the catalytic converter mount bracket bolts.
All vehicles
- Remove and discard the gasket.

NOTE: Clean and inspect the gasket surface.
Remove and discard the studs. Clean and inspect the gasket surface.

NOTE: The following step is only required if the components are being replaced with new items:
Apply penetrating oil to sensor, remove the catalyst monitor sensor. Install Special Service Tool: 303-476 (T94P-9472-A) Socket, Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor.
