Catalytic Converter LH: Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview .
Remove the A/C compressor. Refer to: Air Conditioning (A/C) Compressor - 2.7L EcoBoost (238kW/324PS) .
Remove the LH exhaust flexible pipe. Refer to: Exhaust Flexible Pipe 2.7L EcoBoost .
Disconnect the HO2S and the catalyst monitor sensor electrical connector.

NOTE: Evenly tighten the fasteners during installation.

Remove and discard the catalytic converter to turbo flange nuts. Remove the LH catalytic converter.

Torque: 30 lb.ft (40 Nm)

Remove and discard the gasket.

NOTE: Clean and inspect the gasket surface.

Remove and discard the studs. Clean and inspect the gasket surface.

Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

NOTE: The following step is only required if the components are being replaced with new items:

Apply penetrating oil to sensor, remove the HO2S and the catalyst monitor sensor. Install Special Service Tool: 303-476 (T94P-9472-A) Socket, Exhaust Gas Oxygen Sensor.
